View Full Version : Interest in a no cut/splice, plugNplay DRL Kit
iceman

If you are interested, and would buy one, post up. I am working with Mike/Kent into possibly producing some, but before we go ahead, we want to see who is interested... so post up if you are, or send me an email. If we do it, it would probably be in a pre-order only fashion like the last one to avoid people backing out.
Cost will be tbd depending on interest... In the neighborhood of the last ones, probably.
Benefits: Easy install for the novice, easily removable and put back to stock, and easy resale as well.

Well I wouldn't be interested. But there's only one reson for that, I already have the original. I can however vouch for Mike and Kent's DRL kits, its definately worth the cost and a PnP kit would be worth its weight in gold if you ask me. No wire splicing = priceless. :D

Sorry about the delay..
I am buying the crimpers I need for this, the supplier is huuuge and normally sells to car manufacturer, so the little guy like me doesn't get very good service :)
There are instructions on gagt to kill the drls in 99-00's if you are interested, without the drl kit. Still requires some cutting and splicing tho

... I think someone posted those instructions on here too (I looked at the headlight/DRL schematic sometime ago and figured this could be done as described but never had the 'guts' to try it ... nice to know I would have been on the right track :D) ... still interested in a PnP version though (provided the cost isn't astronomical) :)

I'm lost on this too, and nobody is listing what this thing does. If it just shuts your DRL's off, then I don't see a point. As you may or may not know you can shut your DRL's off by pulling the e-brake up one click.

For 99+ ga's, kills the DRLs without an SVS.

I don't know about other cars, but with mine there is no contact from the brakes at one click. My car is older though, so my cable my be looser or something.

Yeah...but I accidently drove once in my old car with the e-brake clicked once. You don't notice it whil eyour driving but doesn't it hold in brake fluid or something? By the time I was halfway home (about 10 minutes) my brakes stopped working. I could actually push the brake pedal down to the floor with no results. Thats when I went for the e-brake and realized it was up a little. This was a while back but I rememebr asking my fatehr about it and he said that the fluid locked in the brake line became so thin from heat and use that it was thick enough to stop me anymore. I don't remember the exact explanation but it was something along those lines. Maybe someone can elaborate a little more than I can. :)

Um... the E-brake works on a cable. It has nothing to do with the brake fluid. There is a little cable that runs from the brake to the rear brakes. The rear brakes are what the e-brake engages.
On my '01, when the e-brake is up one click, the ((brake)) light comes on. Then (with the factory radio still in) it begins to make the ding - ding - ding.... I don't know about you, but I found that very annoying.
JMILLS
09-03-2003, 12:00 PM
Ya Dan, I remember discussing that with you. Luckily I no longer have a stock radio, so I don't have that issue.

i dont under stand the hatred for drls or arls drls are kinda annoying but usualy you dont have to look at your own head lights while driving and arls ar awsome because im too lazy to actualy turn on my head lights (maby that explains colorado's apperant turn signal ban)

Can't 'remove' the amber corners. It is molded in with the plastic, as far as I have seen. You probably saw one that was covered by vinyl.
just wondering about the progress how is it coming along?
and when is the goal?
