Replaced my 2000 GAGT that I rolled a few days ago (previous thread) with a 2003 black Monte Carlo SS. Does anyone know if there is a forum like this one dedicated to the Monte? This site is great for GA info and I would like to find the same for the Monte. I would like to read what others are using for performance enhancements on their cars. I went yesterday and put on 18in. Miglia wheels and 18in. Michelin Pilots as I couldn't stand the stock SS wheels. I will use the stock ones for winter driving. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if anyone would like to see a pic of the new car, just say the word and I will post one. Thanks in advance. :D

Really appreciate the info guy's. As for the Monte, it has everything but the moonroof and the XM radio antenae. Has everything else and starting to receive more. Put in a K&N air filter today. Wish the car made some noise though. My old Mustang GT had a sweet rumble to it that I would kill for on this car. I know it is just a 6 cylinder but would love to get more sound from it. The wife agrees so now is the time to do it before she changes her mind. A new exhaust would also help with the appearance of the sad stock tail pipes. I am going to try to put some pics up so let's see what happens. :D

Nice car.
I speak for my wife and I when I say that we love the newer Monte SS. Just can't wait to see those limited edition ones with the blown 3.8s in them.

Are you gonna miss the sunroof since your GA had it? Didn't want XM?

I don't think I will miss the sunroof as I really only used it for more light in the car. Never really drove around with it wide open as most of the driving I do is on the highway. The noise seemed to drown out the stereo. I also wasn't really big on the XM feature. Seems to me that is more tailored to traveling salesmen and truckers. The radio and discs work fine for me. I am going to see if my Pioneer 4ways will fit in the Monte today. I was able to grab those from the GA. Won't be able to use my aftermarket stereo as the Onstar system works through the factory unit. Also, need to shop around for another window tinter as the one in town sucks. He installed the remote starter in my GA that never worked right. He kept blaming it on the factory security system.

Sad to see you leave the fold, but that is a very nice car! I have had several Pontiacs in a row and I now own a BLK 2k3 GAGT. I seriously considered a dark blue or black Monte Carlo SS though but I just couldn't do it. As for a car club, here in my area the SS guys joined the local Club Grand Prix chapter. They are essentially the same car, just the GTP version is blown. There are exhaust packages from Borla, SLP Performance, and MagnaFlow. The SLP is louder, but the Borla looks better to me. There is a lot of mod parts available for your car, join Club GP, or just buy them online at www.pfyc.com . Those wheels and tires look great on your car! I love the steering wheel and tailights on the new Monte Carlo! There is alot more hp and torque in the 3800 engine, that a little money spent would be very rewarding. The transmission will be fine, it's one of GM's best so don't worry about that. Feel free to email me for any help or questions. Maybe you could start your own SS chapter in your area, most people who drive an SS love them as much as we love our Pontiacs, so it should be easy to get people involved.:D

Thanks much DLPJ. I checked for forums using Lycos and came up with nothing but after trying Google, I came up with a couple of sites. I think tint and a bra are next in line. Then I will have to look into the exhaust dilema. I will definitely check out the Club GP forum. Really appreciate the info and definitely still plan to drop in on this site quite often. Maybe I will paint the calipers this weekend. I was thinking of going with red paint as the car has red SS highlights. Let me know what you think.

Cool, I was wondering why they didn't make a Monte Carlo aquivalent of the GTP since they are basically the same car anyways. It was strange how the didn't offer the supercharged 3.8 in them up until now like they have on the Grand Prixs all this time. I want one. I'm gonna tell my mom to trade in her Z34.

That will look good on your car. I am saving up for a set of
Baer Claw cross drilled brakes with black calipers. I didn't know if I would like XM radio, but let me tell ya, it's awwesome! Even for people who don't drive long distances. It sounds better than standard radio, and they have such a variety of music. They even answer email song requests quickly, and will tell you when they are going to play what you requested! There is also a ram air hood similiar to the one the Camaro SS had, available for your car. I have seen it on some here and it looks fantastic.:D

By the way, I don't know much details on the Monte Carlo TS. It is a dealer modified car and looks pretty good. I like the way it looks better than the regular monte. Much better.
Also, for 2004, the SS gets supercharged. So does the Impala SS. But it's pitiful that it only makes 240hp. It's just another GTP in terms of performance. Nothing new. I'm not impressed at all. The concept Impala SS is what they should have released.
