im thinking bout getting the 62mm tb and intake manifold from rsm sometime and im wanting to know what the potential gains are at the crank and at the wheels for it....plus will it kill my low end or should it stay the same?
i tried posting it in the performance area but i just get people thinking i have the v6 so they dont have any clue

I did call RSM about that...for a bare bone stock engine, 12- 15HP to the wheels! I say its a pretty good investment!
Buuuuuut, consider the 2.3 intake with a larger throttle body...it has equal length runners, just a bit of maching to make it fit, and as Rob pointed out really gives a good snap at higher RPMs. Our engines already make alot of torque at the bottom end, this combo may well round out the engines potential.

2.3HO along w/ a 62mm throttle body very awesome..
however here is a strong recommendation... move the battery up to where the airbox used to be... (just as RSM does for their supercharger setups) so you can do a cold air intake straight to the fender w/ only one 90degree bend..

dude, if ya want to know how it is.. i'l let ya know after this weekend. i bought that combo and it finilay made it to base, i just aint got it yet. all my mods are on the sig and its a nice combo. altho i had to swap the larger K&N for a cheapo so it would fit. better paying $40 for a filter then the $75 for the K&N or $220 for RSM's intake. but the new filter atleast looks nice.
pics of parts (before/after) to come shortly

this just in. 62mm TB and Ported Intake are in. havent played with the car much since i just got the parts in. but the gain in noticeable and i think the est 15whp gain is stright truth. need a dyno. lol. i think when i get paid i'l try to hit the track with jus the listed add ons.

I don't think you got 15whp...
what you're most likely feeling is the increased throttle response..

15 HP my ass. I've got the APoC TB/UIM set up and though it'd be nice it ain't damn close to 15 HP and I know that the RSM parts are relatively "inferior" to the APoC ones, simply because the RSM TB is a bored stock unit as opposed to brand new piece. Pipe dreams that 15 HP is...

i'm not theone that made that god damn est gain. if ya would read up the thread, some one claimed that they called RSM and RSM claimed 12-15whp gain. i'm jus saying that it COULD be. wont know either way unless i had a damn dyno in my back pocket that i could whip out and do before/after dyno testing, but i cant.
and spy, i hear ya on the throttle response, it does feel quicker. but i can also feel more power when WOT. but either way, it runs quicker. i guess i jus need to head to the track on payday-weekend. i will post times asap

Sorry..didn't mean to come off like an ass. All I'm saying is that headers alone dynoed at 18 HP to the ground...I really doubt a mild port/polish and larger TB will even come close to that. Glad you like the result though..I love mine and will be getting some new comparison track times soon! :D

hey sik this is for the 2.4 not ur v-6
so our #s will be a lil different then yours

:roll2: **** I'm a blockhead...didn't realize that. But I still think 15HP for a mild P&P and TB is a little exaggerated. I wish RSM would post dynos of all their parts...be nice for comparison...

ported intake mani for the 2.4 is only ported at the throttle body to accomodate the 62mm ....

yea, but main thing is the TB its self. 62mm vs about 50mm (i thinks its really 49mm but i couldnt tell when i used a Leatherman to measure.) and as soon as i can get my computer to down load the pics of it from my digi-cam, i'l post the one of the two TBs side by side.

I'll stick to my 62mm billet throttle body and 2.3HO intake manifold ne day of the week.

hey spy, since ya claim to the 2.4god status, maybe ya can help.......
you know of any way to easily get rid of that damn gov'ner?? i'l take any ideas at this point

Since Spy's computer is all ****ed up he'll be off jacking off to magazine porno for a bit...
...but I think your only way to go would be either an ASE/SuperChips/DHP reprogram. And I don't even know if they make any applications for your year...check around. Other than that I can't think of any other way to get rid of the limiter.

damn 62mm throttle body is huge for a 4 cylinder. I think you might gain some in the top end but down in low RPM's thats got to hurt. As for 15whp....no way. I don;t mean to sound like an ass but you prolly will see 10 or less if you dyno it. Where you will fell it is with the butt dyno...and thats what counts to me. With a NA car a 59mm TB will flow enough to get 300hp. Now i know ours are less but iy still seems like an overkill for our cars unless you go all out. You will see better gains if you put it on a car with other work done to it, but what i have come to learn is you want to have flow velosity. If you go too big then in the lower RPM's the velosity is slow because the engine isn't pulling in enough air to keep the air moving fast. and so you lose low end torque...but up in higher RPM's the air is moving faster in and you will gain some power. Also when you are driving along and floor it when your car downshifts it will get a big gulp of air right away and that is where you get better throttle response.

ASE is the only way to remove the governer as far as I know.

i hear ya on all that bit there Timmy. and down the road i do plan on doing more with the car, when i get money.
now if only any one knows if a 62mm TB would "whirle" at 2k rpm if i play with the pedal..?
