Hey to all Ga owners club members I need your help I am buying a Eibach Pro kit for my GA on monday. Now I live in Canada and I can get my springs taxes paid for $485 in Canada however I have looked at PFYC and after their shipping estimate and currency conversion $358.95 is the total. I have never bought anything online before and I am scared i will get stung with duty or something that will make my price go higher can someone please put me at ease. thanks

... you will definately end up paying 'clearing fees' plus applicable taxes ... also, I wouldn't completely go by the estimates ... for interest sake, my 'less than $600 CDN' order from PFYC ended up costing me 'almost' $750 CDN by the time I was done paying fees, taxes and freight (I'm not down playing PFYC car, just stating facts about shipping products into Canada in general) ... personally, I'd buy them from Canada and give the 'local guy' the business :)

We have a Canadian division that should be able to assist you with your purchase. You can go to our site and use the dealer locator, or make your puchase online directly.

Follow me ... DriverFX Canada (http://www.driverfx.ca)

Current price shows $373 CND

Yep, you'll have to pay for brokerage fees from the transport company to import it into canada. In some cases (FedEX, USPS) these fees are very decent and won't add too much to your total but in most cases (UPS and DHL being some of the worst) you'll end up paying more in brokerage than in shipping and taxes, TOGETHER!

Of course you'll have to add the GST and whatever provincial tax you have to that total.

So unless PFYC can guaranty you they'll ship FedEX instead of the usual UPS I wouldn't buy from them. I got caught once and $25 worth of stuff cost me over $35 in brokerage only. Can you guess how happy I was?

wow, that sucks man. I couldn't imagine having to deal with conversions and all these different fees just to order something. Sounds like you guys mentioned 3 or 4 fees - ouch!

Whatever you gotta do, good luck man.

Yeah I agree with 99grandamse. Broker and duty fees can add quite a bit to your cost. I sent injectors out to a shop in the US for service once, and on the way back the shop had declared them to be worth $600.00 so I ended up paying GST on $600.00. It took me over two months to get my money back after I sent in proof that I already owned them.

If there is a Bumper To Bumper in your area, they should be able to get you aftermarket parts. Same with Canadian Tire. You just have to ask. They will have catalogues and listings for any brand name aftermarket company. Good luck and let us know how you made out. I am sure this will be helpful for other Canadian shoppers too.

yea but the trouble with going to places like Crappy Tire is it is more expensive. I just wish there were more performance places that sell products up here.. we race too!

Well....I bought a CentreForce Dual Friction Clutch from Bumper To Bumper last year. I got it for $450.00 taxes included. The best I found on the net was CAN$485.00, plus I would have had to pay shipping. From the US you are looking at conversion, broker's fee's ($6 - $10) and whatever GST customs thinks you owe.

Canadian Tire isn't so bad...I found the LED replacement bulbs in their catalogue, so I had the parts guy look it up and they were no more than $6.00 a piece.

For current currency conversion rates try this site (http://www.xe.com/ucc/) here.

Just out of curiosity, what else do you drive? Or have you performed a manual transmission conversion on your GA?

Thanks guys for your input, I bought them from my Canadian Dealer, and I will be posting pics next week after they are done. As much as I love this Country It sure sucks sometimes. Anyhow I got a pretty good deal and my installation is pretty cheap.

What can I say ... j/k. I know Canada can be a pain so i was trying to help him out. I wasn't even sure the DFX.ca was functioning. We have been having some internal gremlins tearing up our stuff lately.

On a side note, I will email our contact about the banner ad again.

Sorry for the late reply, but I posted and left for four days! I also have a 1991 Cavalier that has a 5 speed transmission. That is where the clutch went. It's a project car that is still in progress...
