View Full Version : what are the LITTLE things you like about your GA?

I'm not talking about complete body styling or engine performance... but rather the little things that you notice and love about your car.
ie. w/ the grand am i have temporarily right now, there are the little things that i think are so cool haha
1. audio stays on even when key is outta ignition but cuts off when door is open
2. when changing radio channels, there's a split second cross-fading... makes it more smoother/fluid.. i dunno i think this is coolest
3. auto-headlights ( i know more and more cars have this but never experienced it for myself).
I don't know how many of these features are common among cars, but for most cars i've been w/ (other than the luxory makes), these are the couple things i noticed and like!
anyone else?

ETS
7sec delay on door locks is nice when your hands are full
Fog Lights
The Simi-power driver seat
The 01 se GA has the best OEM stereo I ever heard. Turn it up all the way and it still sounds good. I added a old a$$ amp 250w and a 10' MTX box the has a mid-rage and tweeter in it. Sounds sweet now
My car also has a defect that I like, I can pull the key out the ignition with the car running or in Acc. Nice on hot days or Cold. When I am almost dress go out start the car, lock the doors and go back in.
The hood release is the funniest one, it took my dad 10 min to figure out how to open it.

Mine for some reason looks like it's jacked up in the back and lower than normal on the front. So it gives it a bit of an aggressive look. Mind you, I haven't modified it in any way. Also it came with badges that say "Limited Edition". I've asked around and nobody's heard of a limited edition GA.

I like the confortable drivers seat.
If you put four people in the car it is still confortable for them.
One more thing..The automatic lights...
I like the theatre dimming interior lights, plus the fact that there are a lot of interior lights. Keyless entry I like too.
I too like the auto on/off headlights.

My GA didn't come w/ keyless entry :( I thought it would be a standard option, o well.
I like the dimming dome light too... in fact, when my maxima gets outta the shop, i'm going to add that feature to my car just for that little luxory feel hahah. It should be a simple job... i'll just add a capacitor to the circuit.

All the comforts in this car now, i've had with other cars.
Oh, one thing I love - no built in ash tray. I took out the cup holder ash tray and no one ever tries to light up in my car....
I love that it's 2 door - never take anyone else in the car with us.
First car with a dashboard molded out of "boobies"
They need climate control and dual zone.

I like the Monsoon!!! And the delay locks, plus the fact that I can't lock my keys in the car.....unless you forget and leave them laying on the passanger seat.

adjustable steering wheel. the ignition switch not being on the steering wheel. middle column cup holder is decently sized. the middle column in general, i like to have my arm resting on it.

Oh it is more than just a dimming dome light. I have 2 lights in rear view mirror (map lights) as I have a sunroof, a light over each rear door, and a light in each front passenger foot well. If it had lights on each door that lit up when the door was opened (one white to see water/puddles, one red so other cars could see the open door) it would be PERFECT!

My favorite thing is when I go to a mechanic and tell him whats acting up, and he says pontiac right? Before i tell him what kind of car
I also like how the doors automatically lock themselves, like everytime my wife hops out in the morning, runs in to get two coffees, i turn the car around, and then when she comes out her door has locked itself, thats really good.
I also like how the lights stay on for 1/2 hour after you turn car off. I have a 2 year old son who likes to flick the lights on and off. So when we get home, i get him out, close the doors and watch to make sure the lights all are turned off, I love standing there feeling like an idiot until they decide to turn off.
(Sarcasm by the way) I hate my 97. Love my 87 GP lj and 91 GAse
hope pontiac just had a bad few years, or im switching brands:2up:

I like the ETS being standard. I also like the placement of the e-brake and the lever style vs the kind that you mash w/ your foot.
It may sound strange, but I also like the style of the vents. It's handy to have them swivel and makes it easier to get them pointed EXACTLY the way I want them. :)
And finally I love the red back lit dash board! :D

I like the dashboard too, it's different, stylish, shapely, and not boring. I like the round vents that rotate every which direction... I like the ignition in the dash, I like the auto locks, the auto lights.... cruise control.... (my last car before a GA was a 90 Escort LX with the only thing that had power was the mirrors and even those didn't work anymore)... I like the agressive stance the car seems to have with the back appearing to sit up a little higher than the front...... etc....etc...

i love the air vents...most useful vents ever in a car i must say....they even put them in the new gran prix since they are so good.......my mom used to have a ga gt and now has a bonneville ssei and she wished it had the air vents like the ga
plus i love the sunroof

actually i think the dash is hella ugly... but then again that's my opinion. I don't like too many round shapes lol. BUT, the vents make EXCELLENT gauge pods :P

I like the cargo net for shopping.
I disconnected the trunk release button from inside the car (so thieves can't get into the trunk) but can still use the remote control release.
The center console can fit a lot of cd's.
Huge glove box.
70/30 split folding seats so two people can still sit in the back with one side folded.

I have a stick and I like 3rd gear. If I'm headed in a corner to fast just drop it in 3rd, or if I'm crusing 50 in a 55 or 60 and there is a place to pass the car in front of you. Just grab 3rd and give it some gas, before you know it your at 70 and the other person is long passed.
That and I just got 350 miles out of 11.4 gallons of gas on a long drive.

I like the trunk release in the driver's door.
I like the double-down rear seat
LOVE the monsoon.

I liked it when I asked a co-worker to pull my car around to the front and he came back in and said he didn't know how to drive standard (its an automatic), I just laughed and said okay no problem. I also like having a nicer car than any of my bosses, and paying less for it than they did for their cars

Some of my favorite things are really small like the reading lamps on the rear view mirror. those are sweet. The Dash agree with all you guys I have no problem staring at a nice set of t*ts all day:D .
Another thing is did you guys know we have Enkei Wheels that's sweet. trunk release on my keychain. Love that. The MONSOON yeah that rocks. I like when you pop the hood and The RAM AIR by pontiac is already painted red, and most definately having the stereo controls on my wheel. Yeah dude that makes driving more fun.:D I love my GA

I like the auto headlights, remote keyless entry thing, moonroof, monsoon...
hey rental.. is your car a late 2002 or a 2003? I thought they took them off in 03 and not 02.

The vents, dimming interior, and auto exterior lights are all cool. But I really love the low windshield washer fluid light (never seen it before so I don't know if many cars have it). It never fails that you run out right when you need it most - on a bad slushy day when crap keeps getting kicked up on your windshield and you can't see with out the squirters.
So it's really handy to know that you are low before they actually run out. Oh, and the resevoir holds a whole gallon. Just buy a fresh one when the light goes on and it will take it all.
I know it's trivial, but I think it's cool.

1. The six gauges (Temperature, Amp Meter, RPMs, Gas, Speedometer, Oil Pressure) Most of the newer GAs don't have that. I also like how classic and simple my dashboard looks. ( no boobs here!)
2. The speakers. I love adjusting my speakers in the back, turning the bass up and cruising. It doens't rattle on the outside either. I laugh everytime I see these Hondas and Neons with their bass turned up and the car rattling. LOL
3. The Theatre lights.
4. My V6 engine. ::sighs:: I wouldn't settle for anything less!
5. The cup holders by the passenger side. I use that a lot and it's very convienent!
I'll never find a car again with these features and that's kind of sad... :(

You know why that is?
Because most people don't use the squirters when it's shiny out with no precipitations :D
The chance of running out of windshield washer fluid is pretty low when you're not using it :D

I love the lower part of the front grille on the SE models. It kinda looks like a spoiler for the front. It has an agressive look, and it evens out both ends of the front where the headlights and the foglights are located. The whole look just meshes together very well, I think.

Anyway, you've never used your squirters when it was sunny out? To clean off any dirt or dust or water spots if it's rained and then dried?

if you read your instructions there is a way to turn off the automatic door locks. if you do not have them or have lost them i will post on how to deactivate them later as i am at school and do not have that information handy.
also, if your son likes to play with the lights then you should have noticed that if you turn the lights from off to on and then back to off they will shut off without you having to wait for the delay. or you could just make sure they are off when you exit the vehicle.

Another thing I thought of when my friend was just in town was how the guages (speedo, tach, gas, and temp) all go to the max when you start the car, then they go down. I don't know why they do that, but it looks cool as hell.

i like the moonsoon system the way you slow down and the music volume goes down too and my sunroof. my boyfriend thinks the dash looks like the batmobile and he loves it . i love it because it looks like a plane compartment and all the gauges and instruments are surrounding the driver. the car handles great and the variable steering is great too. i really love the car

The extendable sunshades. Remote 1 and 2 can have different radio presets (his and hers). Engine not complicated and well, semi-easy to work on.

I find those cup holders among the WORST little features. The flip down holder bounces too much, making for cup launchings and wet messes. That little flap always has coffee stains on it from the spills.

I also leave my left turn signal on all the time for added granny effect! :glasses: :kidding:
I also like that the oil filter is mounted on the front of the engine in an easy to get to space, unlike my dad's sunfire with the 2200 engine.

Can I say the little thing I like about my car? :D
ok, it would be the auto relase e-brake, so when I engauge the brake and then shift into gear, it'll disengauge the parking brake automatically, then the twilight sentenal (basically, when turned on, it'll turn the headlights on and off auto, and depending how far you rotate the dial, it'll leave the headlights on after you leave the car at night so you can see going into your house, variable form 3sec to 3min) The center armrest that opens, becuase there is alot of storeage, then the 2 big flip out cup holders. in the trunk, I have a button to unlock all the doors, it is great, get back from shopping or something, have the trunk open, just push the button to unlock all doors. If you hold the key in the unlock position for a few seconds, it'll unlock all the doors. I like the electronic auto climate control right on the dash in front of the driver, so passengers can't mess with it. fuel data center is real cool. the V8 is quite, but race it and it sounds real mean :D oh, the cornering lamps are great too, when you put the blinker on either left or right, the cornering lamp lights up on that side to show you signs better and let you see what you will be pulling into etc... better. hmmm I can probally go on and on though :D
