2010 GAOC Calendars
Well, here we go again :)
Back by popular demand, we are once again going to make GAOC Calendars. This year, the same as previous years and provided there is sufficient enough interest in terms of suitable numbers of submissions, we will be offering three styles ... the MAIN Grand Am Version (Winners 1 through 12), the RUNNER-UP Grand Am Version (Winners 13 through 24) and so as to keep all our other members happy too, a NON-GA Version.
2010 Calendar Submission Guidelines
1. Image size needs to be a minimum of 2048x1536, a 3MP image, but for best results, images of 4MP (2240x1680) and above are strongly recommended. To insure that the printed product will be of high quality, we WILL NOT accept submissions smaller than 3MP as they will show degrees of pixilation for a full size 8.5x11 calendar page.
2. Image resolution is suggested to be at least 150dpi but 72dpi is the minimum we will accept. Too far below and pixilation will result; however due to Café Press printing equipment, going above 300dpi is not needed and no gains in quality will be had.
3. All images are to be in the sRGB color space. Café Press does not use printers that can take advantage of the Adobe RGB color space and if Adobe RGB files are presented, the output colors may not be accurate. Also, CMYK images cannot be accepted. Now hardly any digital camera except a digital SLR will shoot in the Adobe RGB or CMYK color spaces but if you are unsure of the color space, please feel free to submit a smaller size JPEG of your image for us to examine.
4. An optional, but not required step for help with determining the look and crop of the finished print, download this Print Template ZIP file from Cafepress. Using a program that supports layering, such as Photoshop, open the template, then open the image you wish to submit. Take your image and layer it on top of the template. A set of blue lines will show up as in the image below:

Any part of the image outside of the outer blue lines will be cropped out. It is recommended that you place the desired edges of your print inside of the inner blue lines. This will insure that nothing is cropped out from your desired calendar print. If your image is too small to cover the template, up size the image to large enough dimensions. Once again, this step is NOT necessary.
5. When submitting the image, please send it as a JPEG with minimum compression levels such as Photoshop setting 10-12. PNG format is another good way to submit but it is slightly larger than a minimum compression JPEG. Please do not send TIFFs as they are fairly large and upload can take a long time. When sending through email, make sure you are forwarding the originals and not the reduced version as sometimes offered by Windows.
6. "Photoshop Enhancement" other than general cropping or lighting shall be allowed or disallowed at the sole discretion of the Calendar Staff. For clarification of whether or not your changes will be authorized, please contact us.
Please send your submissions to calendar@gaownersclub.com
YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR GAOC SCREEN NAME
... and just so we're clear, if you do not include your screen name, you picture will not be uploaded until we have it being it takes considerable time and effort to locate who is who based on an incoming email address.
Closing date for calendar submissions will be October 25 with a possible, and I repeat POSSIBLE, extension until November 1 but this will depend upon the number of submissions we have. The reason for this possibility is that if we get enough before October 25, it will give us a little more time for judging whereby the membership will all get a chance to vote for their most favourite cars and who they would recommend as being included. Our plan is to have everything voted on and the winners known before November 1 so the calendar can be designed and offered up for sale no later than the middle of November.
As usual, all submissions become the property of the GAOC (not that we're going to do anything with them but it just sounds more official, HAHA) and any decisions made by our Staff will be considered final (we're serious about this part ;)).
Remember, we do this for fun and good luck to all!!
