so with the 2.4 grand am getting over 301,000kms... it still runs good but its getting a bit rusty i got the rusty door problem... carpet is really worn inside..

been considering a newer car... any suggestions was looking for some input as i cannot really decide??

btw if the ga wasnt getting rusty and needed paint and i could swap into a new carpet easily i would prob keep it... :S

I'd drive the GA till she blows, then pick up something else. At 300,000, you'll get pocket-change for your GA, and if it still runs nice, keep it going.

I like the 3 and the GPGT, but they're pretty different...

If the engine is still running strong I'd drive it with no carpet and until the dam thing rusted over.

X2!! Once you start spending $100 or so a month to keep it running, its not worth it then.

Keep it and then start saving up every month for a down payment on the new car.

Also, WAY too broad of a range to go on.

The LD9 is a fine motor. As said, if the monthly maintainence starts going up, then look for a new ride. Until then, enjoy the GA!!

x2 but it seems like hes looking for a little more like of a family car? Ive heard the mazda speeds are almost bulletproof so the normal 3's have to be pretty decent.

But really keep your car until it blows. When i got my cobalt i was seeing how much they would give me for my GA with all the work i have in it and because it had 189k they said like 200 bucks. They didnt even wanna hear what was done to it.

My sister just got the mazda 3 a few months back def a nice car and it moves, a little too small for my liking though, i like the 6 better but its a little more money.

My uncle got the new altima and thats a bad ass car he got the 3.5 and it hauls ass, has a smooth ride and is roomy.

But before people can throw ideas out there you should throw out a price range as mentioned and you should give us a few ideas of cars your intersted in as everyone has different taste.

What are you looking for.

Run that GA till it pukes. No dealer will give you any cash for it. Even those Push pull or drag sales. We'll give you 5k for anything you can bring on our lot. Are designed for failure. You end up getting that 5k tacked on to the price of the new car you buy. Cause they have to pay for that thing you drove in to drop off to be taken off their lot.

In the meantime Save up every bit of cash you can. Save save save. If you plan on financing more Down Payment makes it easier to budget a car payment into your monthly budget. If you plan on paying cash (the smart way if its feasible) MOre money = better car in most cases.

But what do you want? A sports car. A luxury car? A family sedan? And what do you really want to spend? And talk to your insurance company before you buy. Make sure you can afford to keep insurance on your ride. I've seen many people end up in the poorhouse because they can afford the new car/car note. But insurance kills them. Also take maintenance costs into perspective. Make sure you can afford the Preventive maintenance on the car. Not just Oil Changes. But others at maintenance intervals. Another thing that kils people

VW TDI can be had for less than $10k and get you easily into the mid-40 mpg and if you drive it right you can zoom right up to 60mpg....plus there is an aray of aftermarket from intake, exhaust, tuner/programmer, you can get custom internals and that thing will pump out 13s-14s.....good luck with your search
