Help Plz!!!!

Does anyone know if I need the relocation harness for a 2002 Grand Am SE1? It doesn't have the Monsoon or anything, just the basic CD player. Can I just use the harness here http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...00&cc=01&avf=Y ?? Or what? Thanks.

With G/A's from 00 and up the doorchimes play through your front left speaker. thats basically why they need the factory headunit to remain in the car some how.

Circuit City Sells a harness that allows you to totally remove the factoryheadunit. It comes with a little door chime module that you out under your dash that does the chiming. It's a littel expensve, but it works.

If you dont have the upgraded monsoon radio you do not need to relocate your cd player

To the best of my knoledge you'd have to either relocate the headunit or use the GM chime module regardless. Grand Am's Aleros, Cavaliers, Sunfires, are all the same. at least the ones I've come across have been.

Yes, for 2001+, regardless of Monsoon or not, the HU has to be relocated. I was told otherwise before, but that's not the case. Even the non-monsoon HUs from 2001+ have to be relocated to keep the chimes.

But what if I don't care to have the chimes? It doesn't effect anything else does it?

Apparently not. I ran mine w/o the HU for a few days with no bad results. Some people claim that ABS and your airbags will no longer function, but this has been proven to be false, at least with the N-Body.

I'm at least glad to see I wasnt the only one miss-informed.

I have the relocation harness but I still havent relocated the deck I have the wiring done but I keep taking the deck out of the trunk and dont have the chime speaker so thats another reason. This has been over 5 months now and my ABS works completly fine. So Shawn is correct that nothing else will happen you just loose all the chimes.
