» Rules - Section 1: Posting Guidelines |
1.1 Stay On-TopicDo not change the subject of a thread in progress. If you want to start discussing a different topic, please start a new thread. 1.2 Search/FAQMany topics have already been covered many times on the forum. As common courtesy, please take a minute to read through our FAQ and try our forum's Search function before posting. If you ask a question that's been covered before, you may be asked to search, or be presented with links to previous threads on the same subject. 1.3 Avatars1.3.A Avatars are small images displayed under your User Name with each post you make, and serve as a personal identifier. Please do not purposely use another member's image as your own avatar. Offenders of this rule may be asked to change their avatar, or may have the offending avatar removed. 1.3.B Avatars must NOT be sexual or otherwise offensive in nature. Any offensive, nude, or partially nude images will be removed, and your account will be subject to disciplinary action. 1.3.C Custom avatars are enabled for new registrations after 5 days of membership or 5 meaningful, on-topic posts. However, submitting meaningless posts (post padding) for the purpose of increasing your post count is not permitted. 1.4 Signatures1.4.A Through the Control Panel, you may set up a signature to be displayed under each of your posts. While small images are permitted, we insist that the total file size for linked images not exceed 50 KB, and that the total signature not exceed 5 lines of text or 200 pixels total image height. Your signature should not be longer than your posts. 1.4.B Signature images must NOT be sexual or otherwise offensive in nature. Any offensive, nude, or partially nude images will be removed, and your account will be subject to disciplinary action. 1.4.C Links to commercial/vendor websites are not permitted in signatures. You may, however, link to your own personal, non-commercial site (Myspace, Facebook, CarDomain, Photobucket, etc). Signatures are not meant to be billboards! 1.4.D Custom signatures are enabled for new registrations after 5 days of membership or 5 meaningful, on-topic posts. However, submitting meaningless posts (post padding) for the purpose of increasing your post count is not permitted. 1.5 RespectRespect goes a long way. Please remember that behind a screen name is an actual living, breathing human being. Do not act in any manner on the forums that you would not in any public setting. We pride ourselves on being one of the most friendly car forums on the Internet, and will take steps to ensure we remain that way. 1.6 Flames/Trolling1.6.A Posts that are 'Flaming' in nature will be dealt with accordingly. While members may disagree on occasion, there is no tolerance for personal attacks, name-calling, etc. 1.6.B If you must, please take personal disagreements to e-mail or Private Messages. Do not participate in a flame war on the forums. 1.6.C Please do not post in ALL CAPS. Caps are considered shouting, and are limited to a few words per post. 1.6.D Do not start a thread for the intention of stirring a flame war. This is considered 'trolling', and will be dealt with accordingly. 1.7 Offensive LanguageOffensive language will not be tolerated on the forums. We have a simple language filter in place to curb most outbursts. Any attempt to bypass our language filter and/or excessive swearing will be dealt with harshly. 1.8 Attachments/Links1.8.A Image attachments and links are permitted. However, uploads/links must NOT be sexual or otherwise offensive in nature. Any nude or partially nude images will be removed, and your account will be subject to disciplinary action. Links to any pornographic websites are also not permitted. 1.8.B There is to be no uploading or linking to executable files (.exe, .com, .pif, .scr, etc.). With the very real threat of virus infections and Trojans, it certainly is not worth the risk to our membership. 1.8.C Links posted are to be suitable for all members. Links to pornography, hate sites, warez, etc, are not permitted. 1.9 Street RacingEffective immediately, posts pertaining to street racing, or any racing NOT conducted on an official track are not permitted anywhere on the forums. We have created a new section for legal drag and autocross racing discussion. We strongly discourage our members from illegal street racing, and have removed our former racing section to strengthen our stance on the subject. If anyone is caught discussing or posting about illegal street racing their account will be subject to disciplinary action. This includes posting or linking to photos and/or videos on the subject. See rule 5 below. 1.10 Post in Correct Section1.10.A The forums have been divided into many sub-sections to make navigating the forums and searching for information easier. Please take the time to post in the most relevant section. 1.10B Please don't cross-post the same question to multiple sections of the forum. If you post in the most relevant section your post will be seen and answered promptly. 1.11 SPAM/Solicitation/Chain Letters/Pyramid Schemes/Referral LinksPosts pertaining to the above are not permitted. You may not use our forums as a way to make money. 1.12 Vigilante ModerationWe have a great Administration and Moderation team that volunteer their time to help run the forums and ensure that members are following our rules and policies. While we appreciate the enthusiasm from our members, please allow our moderation team to do their work without outside interference.
If you see a post or thread that is in violation of our rules, is spam, or is in an incorrect section, please DO NOT post in the thread stating that fact. Instead, we ask that you click on the 'Report Post' button located at the bottom left corner of the offending post. Someone from our moderation team will look after it ASAP. 1.13 Software/Music/Movie PiracyWe do lot allow discussion on illegal activities, and that does not exclude discussions of software, movie or music piracy through illegal copies, cracking/hacking or downloading. We have worked too hard to maintain this website to risk having it shutdown over the discussion of these topics. There are plenty of other sites and forums out there that cater to these topics. If you feel you must discuss it, please search out another forum that allows such discussion. 1.14 Moderators' DecisionsPosts questioning moderators' decisions or the enforcement of our forum policies will be immediately deleted and disciplinary action taken. See rule 9 below.
